Russian President Vladimir Putin has launched a brutal invasion of Ukraine.
Millions are now in danger in what is the largest land war in European history since World War II.
And now, one shock poll reveals why Russia has invaded Ukraine.
With Vladimir Putin launching an all-out war against Ukraine, peace has been broken in Europe for the first time in decades.
The last major European war was in the 1990s during the disintegration of Yugoslavia.
And the last conflict on European soil as large as the current Russo-Ukrainian War was during World War II.
Now, a shocking poll released this past week by the Harvard Center for American Political Studies shows that over 60% of Americans say that if Donald Trump were still in office, Russian President Vladimir Putin would not have invaded Ukraine.
Putin’s invasion of Ukraine simply marks the latest in a long string of policy failures for Biden, who once promised that he was the right man to stand up to the Russian ruler. The Russian invasion comes at a time when other polls indicate that most Americans view Biden’s first year in office as a failure.
What’s more, Biden’s approval rating has now slipped under 40%, according to the latest Harvard poll.
The reason for Americans believing that Russia would not have invaded Ukraine under Trump is obvious. For four years, Trump was President, and Russia did not launch any more attacks on Ukraine after taking the Crimean Peninsula and backing separatists movements in the eastern part of the country under Obama.
Now that Biden is in office, many Americans seem to put much of the blame for the international crisis at Biden’s feet.
“A majority of American voters say that Russian President Vladimir Putin would not have invaded Ukraine had former President Trump still been in office, according to a new survey released on Friday,” reports The Hill.
The Hill adds, “A new Harvard Center for American Political Studies (CAPS)-Harris Poll survey released Friday found that 62 percent of those polled believed Putin would not be moving against Ukraine if Trump had been president. When looking strictly at the answers of Democrats and Republicans, 85 percent of Republicans and 38 percent of Democrats answered this way.”
It isn’t hard to see why so many Americans believe this, as Biden took office and the situation between Ukraine and Russia began to collapse almost immediately afterwards.
Now, Russia has launched the largest war in decades, and Americans believe they have done so precisely because Biden was unable to negotiate with Putin.
“A majority of Americans polled — 59 percent — also said they believed that the Russian president moved on Ukraine because Putin saw weakness in President Biden, while 41 percent said that it was not a factor in Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine,” adds The Hill.
The Russian invasion has been met with a wave of condemnations from across America and the world, and the European Union, NATO, and the United States have all vowed to impose crippling sanctions on Putin, and to arm the Ukrainians with weapons in order to resist the Russian invasion.
