One of the foundations of America is the ability to vote for our leaders.
But Joe Biden believes elections are only legitimate if his side wins.
Now, the fundamental right to vote is under threat by Democrats like Joe Biden and Stacey Abrams.
Reason Magazine, a publication that is politically neutral and not affiliated with either the Democratic or Republican Party, raised the alarm about a recent set of comments that Joe Biden made.
Joe Biden was asked whether the 2022 midterm would be legitimate. And he suggested that it’s only legitimate if Democrats win.
Of course, this is the stuff that happens in third-world regimes. One of the hallmarks of democracy is being able to accept when your side loses.
But Joe Biden is clearly not willing to do that.
“I’m not going to say it’s going to be legit,” Biden said. “It’s – the increase and the prospect of being illegitimate is in direct proportion to us not being able to get these – reforms passed.”
Biden is saying that if Congress doesn’t pass his “election reform bill” that the midterms will not be legitimate.
As the article in Reason Magazine points out, that bill is already dead after it failed in the Senate.
The article continues, “So, without his preferred rules in place, does he think the midterm elections are likely to be rigged? ‘Rigged,’ after all, is the word thrown around by another prominent Democrat who cast doubts on vote tallies that delivered unwelcome results. George gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams famously refused to concede the 2018 election she lost to Brian Kemp.”
In 2018, after she lost, Abrams absurdly claimed that Kemp had “rigged” the election by supposedly preventing African Americans from voting.
There is zero evidence to support that he ever actually did this. It was nothing more than wild speculation by Abrams and her supporters.
But they used it for their own convenient purposes, to claim that the election was rigged, and that Abrams was actually the rightful governor.
This all is an extremely dangerous trend in American politics.
America is a republic, not a pure democracy. But according to the dictionary, “republic” is defined as “a state in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives.”
This means that the ability to elect representatives is one of the key foundations of a republic. Without it, any “republic” will quickly devolve into an authoritarian dictatorship.
Elections always involve one side winning and another side losing. Sometimes the Republicans win, and sometimes the Democrats win.
But if the side that loses tries to claim the election was illegitimate, that opens the door for people to try to overturn the election – sometimes by force.
And that can lead to dictatorship.
That is the dangerous mindset that Joe Biden and Stacey Abrams are feeding into by making these dangerously irresponsible statements.
Conservatives need to come together, stand up for the Constitution, and stand up for the right to hold free elections like the Founding Fathers laid out. No matter what Joe Biden and Stacey Abrams say.
