Nancy Pelosi’s days as Speaker of the House are numbered.
With the country lurching from crisis to crisis, it’s no surprise that she’s heading for defeat.
But now, one shock poll reveals that things are actually worse than they appear for Democrats in 2022.
Democrats are on the verge of suffering one of the worst electoral defeats in a generation, according to a new round of polls that were recently released, which indicate that Nancy Pelosi will soon be out of a job as Speaker of the House.
The Hill reports, “Democrats have lost sight of how to build a broad-based coalition absent Donald Trump or a Trump-like GOP foe. As a result, they could be on track to suffer one of the most considerable midterm losses of any party in recent history.”
“Last week, Biden’s approval rating fell to a new low of 41 percent approve, 53 percent disapprove, according to an ABC News-Washington Post poll. Republicans now also hold a 10-point lead in the generic congressional vote — the biggest lead ever recorded for the GOP in the 40-year history of this question being asked, including ahead of the GOP waves in 2014, 2010 and 1994,” adds The Hill.
The news couldn’t have come at a worse time for Democrats, who now have just 11 months to turn the ship around before it’s too late.
But that’s not all.
Not only are Democrats suffering crippling poll numbers that indicate a record red wave year is just around the corner, but with inflation still surging across much of the country, the current political environment seems to be only getting worse for the party in power.
Already, signs are beginning to appear that this is exactly what’s happening.
A new ABC News poll released earlier this month shows that over 60% of voters believe that the Democratic Party is out of touch with the American people, and as the party continues to fail to address surging prices and supply chain issues, that number is only set to grow even more.
Elsewhere, Democrats are also facing extremely strong headwinds, as the party in control of the White House almost always loses seats in midterm elections, and with control of both chambers of Congress only coming down to a handful of seats after the Democrats’ woeful performance in 2020, it’s no surprise that 2022 could end up being a wave election against them.
“Economic discontent is widespread, inflation is at a 30-year high, and the prices of gasoline and consumer goods are soaring — all of which voters attribute to the Biden administration’s policies, fair or not. In addition, voters are worried about the crisis at the southern border and are wary of enacting sweeping climate policies,” adds The Hill.
What’s worse, the statistics behind these points all indicate that Pelosi’s majority is set to crumble next year.
Just 39% of Americans approve of Biden’s handling of the economy, and around 50% of them blame Biden for the rampant inflation, with 9 out of 10 voters concerned about the impact inflation is having on the economy and their own well-being.
While there’s still time for Democrats to turn the ship around, these figures indicate that they still have a steep hill to climb.
