Conservatives are being censored by the federal government.
The liberal media has been trying to ignore it.
But one liberal outlet just went rogue and revealed the darkest secrets of the campaign to censor conservatives.
Under the Constitution, the government is prohibited from doing anything to punish private citizens for their free speech.
Whether someone is conservative, progressive, libertarian, socialist, anarchist, or totally apolitical, everyone has a right to express their views peacefully.
That is what makes America so exceptional, and so different from authoritarian regimes around the world who imprison their own citizens for criticizing the government.
But now the federal government is tossing the First Amendment to the side and taking steps in the direction of censorship.
And this secret was revealed to the public by The Intercept, which is a liberal news outlet.
According to The Intercept, “The Department of Homeland Security is quietly broadening its efforts to curb speech it considers dangerous, an investigation by The Intercept has found. Years of internal DHS memos, emails, and documents – obtained via leaks and an ongoing lawsuit, as well as public documents – illustrate an expansive effort by the agency to influence tech platforms.”
“Behind closed doors, and through pressure on private platforms, the U.S. government has used its power to try to shape online discourse.”
These heavy-handed actions by the federal government are directly aimed at conservatives who question the official narrative on various issues.
“According to a draft copy of DHS’s Quadrennial Homeland Security Review, DHS’s capstone report outlining the department’s strategy and priorities in the coming years, the department plans to target ‘inaccurate information’ on a wide range of topics, including ‘the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic and the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines, racial justice, U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, and the nature of U.S. support to Ukraine,’” the article continues.
But although these policies are now being weaponized by the Biden administration against conservatives, they actually stem from a law that was signed in 2018 by Donald Trump.
“The stepped up counter-disinformation effort began in 2018 following high-profile hacking incidents of U.S. firms, when Congress passed and President Donald Trump signed the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Act, forming a new wing of DHS devoted to protecting critical national infrastructure. An August 2022 report by the DHS Office of Inspector General sketches the rapidly accelerating move toward policing disinformation.”
“From the outset, CISA boasted of an ‘evolved mission’ to monitor social media discussions while ‘routing disinformation concerns’ to private sector platforms.”
This is one of the most terrifying attacks on the Constitution in recent memory. Very rarely in American history has the federal government targeted free speech so directly.
In fact, this may be the worst example aside from the Alien & Sedition Act during the John Adams administration, and Woodrow Wilson’s attempts to shut down dissenters during World War I.
It is imperative that Republicans elect a candidate in 2024 who has the judgment not to hand over these enormous powers to the Deep State that are now being used against conservatives.
