The Left just proved how scared they are of Rand Paul.
He took on one of their most sacred progressive icons.
And now Rand Paul has won a historic victory that will be remembered for generations.
During the heat of the COVID pandemic, Anthony Fauci was the leading voice calling for more restrictions, more lockdowns, and for everyone to cover their face with masks.
He became a darling on the Left for this “safety-first” approach which called for the shutting down of schools and business.
He thought that because of his position as a government bureaucrat, he should be treated as an esteemed expert, and no questions should be asked of him.
And that is certainly how the media treated him.
But Rand Paul wasn’t interested in that. He wanted to uncover the truth and protect the liberty of the American people.
And he challenged Fauci at every turn, calling into question his pronouncements about shutting down businesses, wearing masks, and vaccinating small children.
Fauci did not like that. Throughout all of the Senate hearings, he would sneer at Sen. Paul and give snarky responses.
He thought he was in charge and had no respect for the legislative process.
But now that Republicans may be on the verge of retaking the Senate, and Rand Paul may be in a position to launch a full-scale investigation into Fauci, he has decided to run away.
According to the Associated Press, Fauci will be retiring in December.
“In announcing his departure, the 81-year old Fauci called his roles ‘the honor of a lifetime’ but said it was time ‘to pursue the next chapter of my career,’” according to the article.
Isn’t it convenient that he is stepping down a month before a Republican Senate potentially takes office?
Of course, his retirement won’t stop Rand Paul from investigating him. Any private citizen can potentially be subpoenaed by a Senate committee.
Fauci is just hoping that it takes him out of the spotlight so people forget about him and move on to other things.
After all, he is potentially hiding a treasure trove of information about the links between the U.S. government and the Wuhan Institute of Virology where the COVID virus likely leaked from.
It has already been revealed that Fauci, in his capacity as head of the NIAID, funded the Wuhan Lab directly.
But there is a lot more that needs to be uncovered about where that money went, and for what purpose.
And furthermore, there is a lot of investigation that needs to be done into how COVID actually managed to leak from the lab, and who was responsible for creating it.
Fauci has been stonewalling all of these investigations, and he is hoping that his retirement will just put an end to all of it.
But given how dogged Rand Paul has been in his pursuit of the truth about COVID, that seems unlikely.
For now, though, Rand Paul should be celebrated for forcing Anthony Fauci into retirement and winning this battle against all odds.
