There’s no love lost between Senator Rand Paul and Dr. Anthony Fauci.
But now, the gloves are coming off.
And it’s all because Paul called out Fauci for one giant mistake.
After nearly a year and a half of battling Rand Paul in the U.S. Senate, Anthony Fauci’s reputation is coming undone.
Almost since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the two have squared off in countless Senate committee hearings, debating on everything from what the appropriate Federal response to the outbreak is, to whether or not COVID originated in a Chinese lab in Wuhan.
And yet, every time the two clashed, the liberal media has ruthlessly attacked and criticized Senator Paul, while circling the wagons around Fauci, who has emerged as one of the chief left-wing heroes of the past year.
Now however, over 15 months later, it seems Rand Paul was right all along.
The New York Post reports, “Dr. Anthony Fauci was absolutely adamant that the National Institutes of Health has never funded dangerous research on bat viruses in the Chinese lab suspected of being the source of the COVID-19 pandemic, when he was questioned by Republican Sen. Rand Paul two weeks ago.”
Fauci himself said at a Senate committee hearing on May 11th: “Senator Paul, with all due respect, you are entirely and completely incorrect that the NIH has not ever and does not now fund ‘gain of function’ research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.”
Yet less than a day later, he began to backpedal those comments, admitting that Paul was correct all along.
“That very afternoon, Fauci admitted to “a very minor collaboration as part of a subcontract of a grant we had a collaboration with some Chinese scientists,” during an appearance at Poynter.org’s “festival of fact checking.”” adds the New York Post.
That’s not all.
Fauci has also come out and begrudgingly admitted that Senator Paul may have been right all along about the “lab leak theory” with respect to the true origins of COVID-19.
“Rattled by the morning’s confrontation with Sen. Paul, Fauci for the first time admitted he was not at all confident the virus had developed naturally and maybe, just maybe, it could have come from a lab leak.” adds the New York Post.
Once mocked as a conspiracy theory that only deranged lunatics could believe in, public acceptance of the theory that the virus originated in a lab in Wuhan has grown to the point that Facebook is no longer banning ads discussing the topic.
What’s more, even the Biden administration has recently called on the U.S. intelligence community to “redouble their efforts” to discovering whether or not the virus truly was leaked out of a Chinese lab.
“Did the gain-of-function research partly funded by the NIH result in a lab leak in Wuhan that caused the COVID-19 outbreak? We don’t yet know for sure, but increasingly, this lab-leak theory is regarded by scientists and intelligence agencies around the world as the most likely cause of the pandemic. Yet until recently the theory was dismissed by the scientific establishment and most of the media as “debunked” and a “conspiracy theory.” concludes the New York Post.
Faced with being exposed by Senator Paul for numerous errors, misstatements, and half-truths, calls for Fauci to be removed from his post are mounting in the wake of news that he downplayed much of what Senator Paul had spent the past year talking about, only for Paul to be proven correct.
