When Rand Paul took Dr. Anthony Fauci to task over the government’s response to COVID, the gloves came off.
Paul pointed out what millions of Americans are thinking at home, but few had the guts to say in D.C.
And in less than five minutes, he destroyed Fauci’s plans to force Americans to wear masks into 2022.
When it comes to government overreach on the coronavirus, there’s few people that come to mind more than Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Fauci’s position has largely been to try and contain the spread of the virus at all costs, even if it means hurting the American economy, leaving workers unemployed or underemployed, and shutting down businesses from coast to coast.
That’s because he isn’t being paid to worry about the health of the country’s economy or its workers, but rather the effects of the virus and the virus alone.
Naturally, this has led to numerous clashes with those who have rightfully pointed out that many of the government’s attempts to combat the virus may have very well caused far more harm than good, leaving millions unemployed and destitute.
And no one has battled with Dr. Fauci more on this issue than Senator Rand Paul.
Paul has long been a critic of Fauci’s handling of the virus and his suggested measures to combat it, and how Fauci’s recommendations have completely ignored the economic, psychological, and personal impact on millions of Americans.
And in a recent committee hearing, Senator Paul and Dr. Fauci went at it like never before.
After Fauci suggested that receiving the COVID vaccine wasn’t enough to stop the spread of the virus and that Americans should start wearing not one but two masks even after being vaccinated, Paul took aim at the bureaucrat.
“Rather than being pessimistic towards people gaining immunity after they’ve had COVID or had a vaccine, studies argue for significant optimism,” Paul pointed out in a recent Senate hearing where Fauci testified.
“There have been no scientific studies arguing or proving that infection with COVID would not create immunity,” the Senator pointed out, in direct opposition to Fauci’s claims that getting the vaccine wouldn’t be enough to prevent spreading the virus to other people.
“What studies do you cite to argue that the public should be wearing masks well into 2022?” Paul asked Fauci.
But Paul’s grilling went beyond simply challenging Fauci on the science.
The Senator also took aim at what he called Fauci’s “theater.”
“During a tense exchange Thursday at a Senate hearing over the COVID-19 pandemic, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky accused Dr. Anthony Fauci of performing “theater” and wearing two masks “for show” after being vaccinated.” writes Business Insider.
“You’ve been vaccinated and you parade around in two masks for show.” Paul said, accusing Fauci of playing politics with his position and the virus.
“You’re telling everybody to wear a mask, whether they’ve had an infection or a vaccine. What I’m saying is that they have immunity, and everybody agrees they have immunity,” Paul said. “What studies do you have that people that have had the vaccine or have had the infection or the vaccine are spreading the infection? If we’re not spreading the infection, isn’t that just theater? You’ve had the vaccine and you’re wearing two masks, isn’t that theater?”
Paul concluded the battle by finally saying that Fauci isn’t concerned with the liberty of the American people that has been eroded in the name of combating the virus, something which even Supreme Court Justice members have pointed out to be a serious Constitutional threat over the past year.
