For decades, no one in the United States could imagine the government not controlling education.
But now, one massive change is taking place that could bring that to an end.
And the Left is fighting tooth-and-nail to keep kids in government schools.
One of the hidden impacts of the Covid pandemic has been the changes that have taken place within public schools.
With Democrat governors and teachers unions across the country shutting down schools for as long as two years straight, a whole generation was left behind in the middle of the pandemic.
But now, well over two years after the pandemic began, it’s clear that the Left’s reaction to the pandemic within the public school system could end up bringing about its demise.
The Associated Press reports, “The coronavirus pandemic ushered in what may be the most rapid rise in homeschooling the U.S. has ever seen. Two years later, even after schools reopened and vaccines became widely available, many parents have chosen to continue directing their children’s educations themselves. Homeschooling numbers this year dipped from last year’s all-time high, but are still significantly above pre-pandemic levels, according to data obtained and analyzed by The Associated Press.”
It’s clear that there’s a massive shift underway within the education industry.
And the biggest losers in all of this will inevitably be leftist politicians who rely on an indoctrinated populace to continue to elect them.
The fact is that millions of parents are now well aware that most public schools are rapidly becoming little more than public indoctrination centers where their children end up becoming committed socialists who despise free markets and lack any of the skill sets that parents were promised their kids would learn in government schools.
“Families that may have turned to homeschooling as an alternative to hastily assembled remote learning plans have stuck with it — reasons include health concerns, disagreement with school policies and a desire to keep what has worked for their children. In 18 states that shared data through the current school year, the number of homeschooling students increased by 63% in the 2020-2021 school year, then fell by only 17% in the 2021-2022 school year,” adds the Associated Press.
With more and more parents homeschooling their children, or putting them into private or charter schools, there are fewer kids who are receiving a leftist education.
This in turn is giving teachers unions and leftist politicians a smaller pool of susceptible future voters they can bank on.
The Associated Press adds, “Once a relatively rare practice chosen most often for reasons related to instruction on religion, homeschooling grew rapidly in popularity following the turn of the century before leveled off at around 3.3%, or about 2 million students, in the years before the pandemic, according to the Census. Surveys have indicated factors including dissatisfaction with neighborhood schools, concerns about school environment and the appeal of customizing an education.”
If this trendline continues, or possibly even grows, the results could have a major impact on the future of education and politics within the United States.
