Joe Biden’s plans to remake America in his image are going up in flames.
With nearly six months since he’s taken office, almost nothing of his far-Left agenda has become law.
And now, Biden just got news thatyet another piece of his Left-wing wish list is about to be defeated.
When Joe Biden took office at the start of the year, liberal Democrats in Washington, D.C. and across the country cheered.
Biden, with the help of Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, was supposed to usher in a new wave of Left-wing socialist legislation that would completely remake the United States.
Democrats were supposed to pass all sorts of big-ticket agenda items that would not only guarantee they remain in power for at least a decade, but also bankrupt the American economy, shred the Constitution, set fire to the Bill of Rights, and grow the power of Big Government at the expense of the American people.
But now, almost six months after he’s taken office, and very little of Biden’s agenda has even made it out of committee.
While the House of Representatives have passed all sorts of Left-wing bills on everything from climate change to a Democrat takeover of all Federal elections, the Senate has done almost nothing.
Thanks to the opposition of 50 Republican Senators to most of Biden’s agenda, plus repeated pushback from two of the most moderate Democrats in the Senate, KyrstenSinema (D-AZ) and Joe Manchin (D-WV), Chuck Schumer doesn’t have the votes to destroy the filibuster and pass whatever he wants like Nancy Pelosi can in the House of Representatives.
This of course has led to much of Biden’s agenda simply sitting on the sidelines, with little chance of passing for the time being.
Of course, that hasn’t prevented Democrats from trying.
Not only have Democrats threatened Sinema and Manchin with primary challenges if they don’t toe the party line, but some Democrats are now having to water down their own bills with the hope of convincing at least a few liberal Republicans to jump on board and support them.
Politico reports, “Democrats are preparing to vote on a scaled-down guns bill. They’re well aware that a unified 50-vote Senate majority is the only way to put unmitigated political pressure on their opponents.”
“It’s a stark contrast with Democrats’ approach to their sweeping elections package, which lacks total support from their Senate caucus and is unlikely to win any Republican votes when it comes to the floor this week. But it’s just a matter of math in the evenly divided Senate, according to Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), who had spearheaded the latest round of gun control negotiations.” adds Politico.
Murphy, one of the top gun control proponents in the Senate, has himself admitted that Democrats are going to have to “water down” their own bills if they have any hope of getting anything passed.
Of course, conservative Republicans in the Senate like Rand Paul and Mike Lee will continue to fight against any bill that violates the Second Amendment and takes gun rights away from the American people, and even Murphy’s bill – which itself is still a blatant Democrat gun-grab – should be fought by all pro-Second Amendment Republicans in Congress.
But the latest Democrat ploy to sneak gun control past Congress is a clear sign that much of Biden’s agenda is facing a difficult time of getting anywhere in the Senate.
